Our unique handmade worry dolls support ethnic Mayan artisans in the highlands of Guatemala! Due to the handcrafted nature, no two worry dolls are exactly alike, with variations that are unique to the weaver. As Guatemalan artisans make handicrafts that are locally and naturally sourced, the whole process is environmentally friendly and plastic-free—a sustainable way to support these artisans, protect their beautiful culture, and improve their economy.
The making of Guatemalan worry dolls was inspired by the tale of the Mayan Princess; she asked the Sun God for a gift that can help her solve any human problem, and her wish was granted in the form of a pocket-sized doll.
It's said that if someone has too many worries and cannot sleep then they should place a worry doll underneath their pillow. The person will wake up without any of their worries, which have been taken away by the worry doll during the night.
Make sure to give thanks to your helpful pocket-sized friend! When you wake up in the morning and the worry doll has completed its task, give its tummy a rub to comfort it after a night of worrying in your place. Then place it back into its cozy pouch to recharge. (The pouch is also great for taking your doll on all your travels!) Each pouch comes with four worry dolls.
